Dept. of ENT (OTO Laryngology)

ENT deals with diseases of Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck region. These diseases can be congenital anomalies, infections, traumatic cases, Tumours, vertigo, Headaches and other miscellaneous conditions.

The Department of ENT consists of :-
(a) Reception
(b) Waiting area
(c) Consultation chamber
(d) Operation Theatre
(e) Indoor facilities
(f) Radiological investigations
(g) Pathological services
(h) Audiological and vestibular evaluation

Presentation

(a) Patient's of ear diseases will present with symptoms of deafness, tinnitus, earache, ear discharge, itching in ears, vertigo, giddiness, headache, diplopia, facial nerve palsy.

(b) Nasal diseases manifest as nasal obstruction, nasal discharge, sneezing, epistaxis, alterations in sense of smell, bad smell, epiphora, atypical facial neuralgias.

(c) Throat manifestations are pain in throat, sore throat, pain on swallowing, lump in throat, itching in throat, hawking sensation, excessive salivation, dryness of throat, fever in infection cases, soreness of tongue, feeling of ulcers in oral cavity and throat.

(d) Laryngeal or voice box disorders are hoarseness, changes in voice pitch, speech abnormalities, difficulty in breathing.

Diagnostic / therapeutic facilities

(a) Radiological - X-ray, CT-Scan, MRI, Barium swallow
(b) Laboratory investigations - All relevant investigations are done
(c) Audiological and vestibular evaluation

Pure tone audiometry, impedance, BERA, Suprathreshold tests like SISI, ABLB, Tone decay, LDL
Hearing Aid Trial, Fitting and Speech Therapy are undertaken
