Our comprehensive gastroenterology program addressees several
complications in infants, children and adolescents.
Our team uses a comforting approach in the diagnosis and treatment
of growth concerns, obesity management, feeding difficulties,
inflammatory bowel disease, nutritional deficiencies, cystic
fibrosis and liver disease.
The endoscopy work of the department increasingly deals with
the ever expanding spheres of Interventional Endoscopy relating
to the biliary tract and management of complications of portal
hypertension, in addition to esophageal and rectal dilation,
colonic polypectomics and the placement of feeding gastrotomies,
esophageal stents.
The other facilities extended by the department are :
ERCPs ( both
diagnostic and therapeutic ) including Sphincterotomies, Stone
extraction, Insertion of Endoprothesis
24 hours
service for acute bleeds and acute liver failure.

Surgical Gastroenterology is a full-fledged department with
laparoscopic surgical facilities. The department deals with
all diseases connected with the entire digestive tract, besides
Liver, Gall Bladder, and the Pancreas.

The Gastrointestinal Center at NMC Hospital offers patients
comprehensive attention to their personal needs in an atmosphere

available today. The G.I. Center is a complete facility, which
includes endoscopy and laparoscopy rooms, x-ray and patient
preparation and recovery areas, complete with monitoring equipment.
G.I diseases and conditions are treated without traditional
surgery; using endoscopes (small flexible fiber-optic tubes
carrying miniature video cameras along with micro tools) procedures
are performed while viewing a magnified image on a large video
screen overhead.
