Keeping in view the ever evolving demand for hi-tech diagnostics, NMC setup an exclusively dedicated centre viz. NMC Imaging & Diagnostic Centre at VIMHANS, New Delhi in the year 1995 to cater to this growing need.

NMC is fully equipped with the following latest generation and hi-speed imaging & diagnostic equipments.

At NMC Hospital, we have invested heavily in the department of imaging, a high priority service, recognising, adopting and putting to work the worlds latest developments in Diagnostic Equipment & Techniques. The Imaging department is managed by committed radiologists working `round-the-clock' during emergency.

The NMC Hospital's diagnostic imaging department offers nearly any procedure necessary in diagnostic work-ups.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)

NMC Hospital has a latest generation 1.5 Tesla GE Signa Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) System at its exclusively dedicated diagnostic centre - "NMC Imaging & Diagnostic Centre" at VIMHANS Complex, New Delhi. The 1.5 tesla MRI armed with a powerful magnet and advanced software enables scanning of brain, spinal cord with a high degree of accuracy & clarity.

It gives exquisite details of the brain and the spinal cord anatomy, which was never seen before, thus helping in making accurate diagnosis. Unlike most of the radiology equipment, this does not utilize ionising radiation for providing high quality images of sensitive internal organs. This system also facilitates angiography of neck, brain & other vessels without injection of a dye.

All patients of NMC hospital, Noida, requiring MRI are screened at its Diagnostic Centre, New Delhi through special Ambulances commuting between Noida and Delhi Centres.

COMPUTERISED TOMOGRAPHY SCAN (CT SCAN)

NMC Hospital has acquired a state-of-the-art Helical (Spiral) CT scanner with advanced software. This enables fast acquisition of images with a high degree of accuracy and without the loss of any information due to respiratory movement.

Due to advanced Helical technology the procedure time is reduced drastically. Here an Abdomen CT scan can be done in less than one minute, unlike a conventional CT scanner wherein 15 mins would be required. This Helical CT scanner also provides high resolution images on laser films with maximum speed and minimum radiation dose.

Non co-operative patients and children can now be examined without the necessity of administration of sedation or anaesthesia. Also, advanced software & hardware enables CT angiography and 3D acquisitions & reconstruction. As a result of increased throughput, it is now possible to give appointments to most of our patients on the same day.

NMC also has a hi-speed Spiral CT Scanner at its Imaging & Diagnostic Centre at VIMHANS Complex, New Delhi.

4D ULTRASOUND
The latest equipment for acquiring 3D and 4D images (first in Noida) is now available with us. We can obtain life like pictures of the fetus with this.

DIGITAL X-RAY
Fully computerized X-Ray equipment, which reduces radiation exposure and gives excellent clarity in X-Ray films.

COLOUR DOPPLER
A dedicated peripheral vascular Doppler machine is a real boon to department of imaging. Colour Doppler is a useful and non invasive screening tool for detecting arterial and venous diseases.

This state-of-the-art equipment armed with multiple probes can do carotid, peripheral vascular, renal, small parts and gynecological Doppler studies.

MAMMOGRAPHY
Breast Cancer is one of the highest occurring cancers in women. It is estimated that one out of every ten women would have breast cancer in their lifetime. Mammography is the only modality to pick up non-palpable cancer.

Our high-tech mammography machine (Senographic DMR) is capable of diagnosis of minute lesions and with it`s stereotactic attachment it is also possible to take a fine needle biopsy from this minute lesion.

BONE MINERAL DENSITOMETRY (BMD)
Bone densitometry is an essential tool in osteoporosis management. It assists physicians in diagnosis, fracture risk assessment, and monitoring response to therapy.

It is performed with an instrument called a Bone Densitometer. This machine is based on a technology called DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) which is very accurate, fast, easy to perform and painless.

You must consult your doctor for a checkup if you:
are above 40 years of age
have undergone Menopause
have back pain, height loss or a bone that fractures easily
have a family history of osteoporosis or fractures

DIGITAL SUBTRACTION ANGIOGRAPHY (DSA)
Our DSA offers split - second computer images to capture the exact location of abnormal blood vessels in sensitive organs like the brain, kidney, heart and lungs. The DSA also allows for treatment using interventional procedures like Angioplasty (Balloon dilation of narrow blood vessels through catheter) and Embolisation of Tumours.

GENERAL RADIOLOGY
We have advanced X-Ray machines, which are equipped with automatic exposure control. This enables to produce consistent quality X-rays without giving excess radiation to the patient. Routinely a high KV technique is used for Chest X-Ray, which increases chance of picking up more abnormalities, thus helping in proper management and patient care.
